What Type of Roof Coatings Should I Use For My Commercial Roof?

Commercial Roof Coatings aren’t a one-size-fits-all. When it comes to recommending the best option for your roof it will depend on a few factors:

  • Current Roofing Material
  • Climate
  • Location of the Building/Roof Structure of Building
  • Intended Use
  • Budget

Armour Roof Co. offers 4 types of roof coatings including Acrylic, Silicone, Urethane, and Tritoflex 2k (liquid rubber membrane).

Each has its own unique set of benefits and drawbacks and our recommendation will always be weighed against the variables above.

Here is a breakdown of the types of roof coatings:

  1. Acrylic Roof Coatings: Acrylic coatings are a popular choice due to their low cost, ease of application, and durability. They form a tough, flexible membrane that provides excellent protection against weather, UV rays, and other environmental factors. Acrylic is great for flat roofs, however, we’ve also applied it to metal, rubber, and single-ply membranes.

  2. Silicone Roof Coatings: Silicone roof coatings are known for their excellent durability and resistance to extreme weather conditions. They form a strong, flexible membrane that provides excellent protection against UV rays, rain, wind, and hail. Silicone roof coatings are typically more expensive than acrylic coatings but are also more long-lasting.

  3. Urethane Roof Coatings: Known for their durable and impact resistance, urethane roof coatings are another popular option we offer in the product line. They’re not a temperature sensitive as acrylic and are extremely versatile- commonly uses for commercial roofing substrates such as EPDM, Single-ply, BUR, Modified Bitumen, and even Concrete Roof Decks.

  4. TritoFlex 2000 Liquid Rubber Membrane: Armour is an exclusive provider of Tritoflex 2K, an industrial-grade and instant-setting liquid rubber membrane. It is water-based (and non-toxic) while still extremely flexible and tough. It can be applied at any level of thickness with a single pass resulting in a lightweight, seamless roof coating that can be easily repaired and renewed indefinitely.

Ultimately, one of our commercial roofing experts can assess your building and account for all these factors to make the best recommendation.
